Small Business Internship Program

The Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) provides small businesses the opportunity to hire a post secondary student for a 12 week period. The government will reimburse 75% of the cost of the student intern up to $10,000. The intern should be tasked to on e-business projects to improve the online competitiveness of the business. 

Small Business Internship Program Requirements:

  • be a Canadian small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with less than 500 employees;
  • be incorporated or a sole proprietorship and for-profit;
  • have been in continuous operation for a minimum of one year;
  • have an existing web site and wish to enhance your e-business capability;
  • contribute a minimum of 25% of the student wages and related expenses.


Fill out an application form to be considered into the internship program. Succesful applicants will be notified. Approximately 400 internships will be approved per year.
